I became an Anat Baniel Method practitioner in February, 2007 after completing a 2 1/2 year training program with Anat Baniel in California. In November, 2007 I completed the Mastery program in the Anat Baniel Method for Children and in May, 2008 completed the Mastery in the Anat Baniel Method for Vitality and Anti-Aging. During this time period, I also become a Guild Certified Feldenkrais practitioner through Anat Baniel's training program and completed the Mastery for High Performers in August, 2008. In April 2010 I completed a fourth level Mastery for Children program in California taught by Anat Baniel and have been on support staff for the year long Mastery for Children trainings in 2011 and 2012.
I joined the training in February, 2005 a few months after my granddaughter Elizabeth was diagnosed at age 6 months with a rare brain disorder called schizencephaly. My daughter and I discovered the Anat Baniel Method on the Internet shortly after the diagnosis. After taking Elizabeth for her first series of Functional Synthesis lessons in New York City with Marcy Lindheimer and witnessing the immediate changes, I decided to begin the training. Elizabeth is now 9 years old and exceeding all expectations. She is an intelligent, happy child attending 3nd grade in a public school. She continues to receive lessons each week in PA and every few months in NYC.
My interest has always been in the education of young children. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education from Pennsylvania State University as well as a certification in the Montessori Method from Chestnut Hill College. I incorporate my knowlege of child development and child psychology into my practice and am available for consultations regarding the best atmosphere for your child in their schooling. I have worked with children from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida and California, where this past winter I had the privilege of working as part of the team at the ABM Center with Anat Baniel.
My work has also been directed overseas and I have traveled to Europe, Denmark, Turkey and Spain to work and to study. In October, 2013, I partnered with my colleague, Juan Carlos Concha in Mallorca, Spain presenting a week long retreat for families with children with special needs. We expect to run these retreats twice a year In April and October.
In 2013 I became a rotating staff practitioner at the ABM Center in San Rafael. I am also on the regular staff at the Scandinavian Center of NeuroDevelopmental Movement in Denmark and a new ABM center in Istanbul, Turkey.
In addition to my private practice in Doylestown, PA (with clients in West Chester, Philadelphia, Lancaster, Pittsburgh and Wilkes Barre) , I participate in workshops presented by Anat Baniel and in the Anat Baniel Method for Children Free Children's Clinics around the country. In the past years I traveled to New York, Tennessee, Illinois, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina and Majorca, Spain to volunteer at clinics and workshops sponsored by my colleagues. A trip to India has inspired me to work towards opening children's centers which will offer free clinics each month and well baby checkups. This will enable all children with special needs of any kind to experience the work first hand and give parents the opportunity to see the results for themselves and to ask questions about the Anat Baniel Method for Children.
Although my practice is mostly children, I also work individually with adults of all ages and teach Transformational Movement Lessons. These are one hour long group classes that guide people through slow, gentle movements in order awaken the brain and release unnecessary muscle contractions that are limiting a person's movement through life.
In 2020, I continued my studies directly with Anat Baniel by completing the Children's Mastery 5 on Cognition and Learning. I am also now trained as an NeuroMovement Online At Home Coach assisting parents in bringing the 9 Essentials into their home to assist their child's development.
